MISSION STATEMENT

 

Our office will represent every citizen with dignity and respect concerning taxes and programs as provided for in the Code of Virginia.  We will provide a vision for the future with direction and accountability to all our citizens.

 

Our office is committed to providing the highest quality of service to the citizens of Tazewell County.   We will always provide open communication, we will listen, and we will explain.  Serving the Citizens of Tazewell County is our #1 Priority!

 

 

DUTIES OF THE OFFICE

 

Producing the County’s real estate tax books, assessing new construction between general reassessments, maintaining assessment records, maintaining and administering personal property records and business tangible personal property records, annual processing of Virginia Income Tax returns, annual processing of Virginia Estimated Income Tax returns, completing Virginia Income Tax Returns for any individual that requires assistance, working in conjunction with the Building Inspector’s Office, Clerk of Circuit Court and the Treasurer’s Office, administering the county’s coal/gas severance tax, administering the county’s exemption programs such as the “Tax Relief for the Elderly” and “Veterans Exemption”, updating real estate tax records when land is purchased or sold, administering the land use program, processing of bank franchise taxes, and publishing of state corporation tax rolls.
