PERSONAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENT

 

 

Motor Vehicles

 

The assessed value of personal property is based on a recognized pricing guide, if available, or the percentage of original cost as of January 1. Percentages may vary according to the category of property. The pricing guides used for motor vehicles are the NADA books or percentage of costs. The value taken from the NADA guide is the low book value which is the loan value.

 

Mobile Homes

 

The assessed value of mobile homes is determined by using the fair market value based on age and square footage of each home.

 

Mobile homes are taxed according to ownership as of January 1 of every year.

 

A tax relief program is available for qualifying owners of mobile homes who are 65 years old or older as of January 1. See the qualifications and guidelines for the Real Estate Tax Relief.

 

Appeals

 

You may appeal the assessment of personal property by completing the Appeal of Personal Property Assessment Form and attaching documentation supporting your appeal.
